For moments it was just all black. Nothing less, nothing more. Just darkness, the light fading to black, so black that you wouldn't see your hand if you waved your hand in front of your face. Not even a slight bit. In this moment, it was as if Cross had no thoughts, no personality, no dreams, nothing whatsoever. It was like...all he could do was look into this darkness that was surrounding him and it was left at that, almost like a dream yet more sinister and controlling.
However, all of a sudden, flash backs started to quickly whiz right past his head, his own voice and the voices of others slowly filling his head like echoes, being able to hear things from his past, both recent and old, images coming straight after like it was a flowing film of certain moments of his history. Blurry images of him training to become a mercenary, more visions of him on a contract having a firefight with several men as they mercilessly fired back at him; All of a sudden another zoomed in of him pointing two guns at enemies that were aiming to finish off a girl with blue hair...Hannah? Then all of a sudden the image of this was launched to the side with fast speed, now the view of black totally gone and instead filled with the sky and trees that reached almost up to it.
Then Cross realized. He was conscious again. He had no idea why he was still alive or how he was still alive, but all he knew was; He was alive. His hands moved nervously, almost instinctively searched the area they were rested for his guns, touching the soft grass few times before finally feeling the hard handguns.
Finally getting a hold of himself, he found it hard to move, the bullet doing it's effect; Effect of pain and suffering. He found it hard to move his whole body, however as his eyes focused more and his vision became clearer, he noticed a figure next to him, pushing on his wound. He couldn't pay much attention to the pushing or what effect it was doing, but he was able to see who it was. It was Hannah; The young Neogena he refused to kill and risked his life for. His hands slowly let go of his guns and his arm came up, grabbing her fairly tightly on the shoulder.
"Thought I...." Cross muttered with effort, looking right at her, "told you to run." He finished, a smile on his face, putting his other hand over the hand that was applying pressure, doing his best to stay conscious, after all, he was just a human and this wound was not being kind to him at all.

Hannah nodded when Cross said her that he had told her to run away. The worry was noticeable on her face. This wasn’t the time to worry about her. She was fine. He on the other hand needed medical help. “You’re okay?” She asked him noticing how foolish it was sounding. He was shot and was bleeding a lot, but he just was fine. Of course not. Not paying any attention about how stupid her first question was she asked another one. “Can you walk?” She hoped he still was able to because she wasn’t able to drag him all the way out of the forest. Yet it was a fact they needed to get away from here as fast as possible. Hannah did not know if there were more of these persons in the organization like the two dead ones close to them. “We need to get away from here.” Hannah said as she tried to help him move up. “Maybe more will come. After all they could have heard the sounds of the guns.” She had heard that too, while she had been far away from the whole scene. “Come.” She said as she pulled his arm, trying to make him move in a sitting position, and after not moving him to stand. She was smaller than him and definitely less stronger.
Her eyes scanned the area around her as she was keeping an eye on everything that was moving. The wind was sounding louder as it caused the leaves and branches to move and it was sounding in her eyes. It caused her to have moments she only could hear the wind blowing in her ears. The wind that had grown stronger was only feeding Hannah’s fear. Something wasn’t right, she could feel it.

Cross nodded when he was asked if he was okay. The reality of it was that he was from okay, however his pride wouldn't allow him to admit that he was going down, not now after beating the Sovai twins like that. He continued to look up at her before moving his stare towards the blue sky, knowing that it would not be far fetched if he died here, seeming as a bullet wound to a human with no powers was enough to kill a human, and he was nothing more than a human with no powers.
As she continued to talk, he decided to attempt to stand, but it was hard. It had been a while since he was wounded like this and it was not an easy wound to simply heal from that easy. Doing his best, he found it difficult to get up, but he was slowly finding himself getting up. As he was attempting to get up, he decided to use his breath to speak back to her.
"Not sure, usually the twins get it done, no games, if they send others it means that they really want you down for some reason, doubt it though." Cross replied slowly, being able to just about sit up with Hannah's help. "Why you still here, huh? Sure you shouldn't be runnin' from a scary gunner like me, got somewhere to be...?" Cross asked with a slight laugh, holding out his hand on the ground to keep himself sitting up so he didn't end up laying down again. Which of course, would of required more effort to get back up again.
Grabbing at his guns, his hands dragged them across the grass until they were able to slide into the sides of his utility belts, after all, trouble could be a lot worse when he didn't have his trust firearms at his sides. Literally.
His eyes slowly scanning the area in front of him just in case anyone came by, Cross has no idea what was going to happen now. Everything was supposed to be so simple. Go there. Find the Neogena. Kill the Neogena. Done! But it all turned out so wrong and now, he was in a situation he never thought he would find himself in.
And who said mercenary work was predictable?

“I’m not dangerous at all. I.. I could have been dead already.” Hannah was able to speak out as Wolf said that the twins were seeing this as a game, or that the organization really wanted to have her dead. Or the person really was paying much for her dead body, which made her more curious because she had no clue who it could be, or they would really be thinking she was a danger for anyone. And this had been the person who had helped her after all. “I couldn’t.” Hannah said with a smile. “You have helped me, now I should help you.” For at least she was possible to do so. “Come..” She said as she tried to pull him up. A smile appeared on her face when he asked her if she wasn’t afraid of such a scary gunner like him. “You are less scary then those other two”. That was something she could say with honest feelings because the twin had been ready to kill her and most of all they even had that insane look in their eyes. They enjoyed the hunt, the killing: The stereotype of a killer.
“We really need to get out of here.” As she tried to force him to stand up she was making a plan in her mind. Where could she go with him to be safe from any other agent or mercenary? And most of all: Where would her family and friends be safe from the possible threat. But first which way did they need to go. When she had run away from Wolf she didn’t had the time to look around to see where she was going. She was lost already and secondly after the entrance of the twins, she needed to run again. Also not watching were she was going. Completely disoriented she had no idea where she was. Hannah looked a bit worried when she saw how he reached out for his weapons and for a moment she realized that he had changed his way of thinking and suddenly realized that it was better to just kill her to finish this all. After all she was the one making everything way more complicated than it was. However without even aiming it at her he holstered the two weapons, without blinking or even looking at her with distaste. She did not need to worry about such things. There was no way he would risk his life for her to just kill her after that. That was something only a fool would do.
“Hurry up.” She said, regaining her scared feeling as if there still was someone close and she started to pull him up at his arm. Ignoring the fact for a moment he had been shot and was almost dyeing from the pain.

As Hannah attempted to help him up while talking to him, Cross was doing his best to try to get up. The pain was a lot and it didn't feel like no normal bullet, like it had extra pain or something. Well, that would be odd, it was just the pain he was feeling was very annoying. But it was expected, no one went up against the Sovai Twins and got away without a wound, they were sadistic, blood-thirsty expects. Although, they were dead now; Two great mercenaries out of the way in Cross' mind, more chance of him being the best.
Not before long, he used his willpower and strength, along with the needed help of young girl, Hannah; Cross was able to stand on his two feet, one of his hands holding the wound and the other just laying by his side, not doing anything. A light breeze came through the forest, blowing air into Cross' face for a short moment, the wind making the wound feel somewhat colder. It was a better feeling than the one he just had, although after a few seconds; The wound returned to it's normal pain. How nice.
"Got anywhere in mind?" Cross asked plainly, taking a breath inbetween a few words as the pain spiked up for a moment. They needed to be somewhere out of sight, or Hannah did rather, as far as Cross was aware, no one other than them two knew that he killed the Sovai Twins and spared the life of a Neogena he was supposed to eliminate.

Hannah was able to help him up but it was easy to see he really was in pain. She glanced with worry at the man. “You really need to get medical help.” It seemed she had no other option then guiding him to the most saves place she knew: Her grandmother’s home. It was located far away from the crowded centrum. She hoped it wasn’t the first place any agent or member of an organization would look. He had spared and saved her life so it was obvious she needed to do the same for him. “I do know were to go but it will take some time.” She said with a smile as she looked around. Her words were soft and she watched it well how she was formuling her sentence. “But we first need to get out of this forest.” She did not wanted him to realize that she simply had no clue where she was right now. When she had run away twice she didn’t gave herself the chance to check which way to go. It wasn’t quite the news she wanted to give him.
She moved closer to him and tender folded her hands around his arm to support him. Her grip was firm to help him stay up but she somehow tried not to hurt him, which was a stupid thing to think because he was something like a secret agent or better. People like him were trained to endure pain and to keep going. Only that simply wouldn’t pop up in her mind. There was no way he would break under her touch. She looked around and sighed once before she said something. “ Now, which way to go?” It was a question that wasn’t completely directed to Cross, but she had said it to herself and she did not even realized she had said it out loud. There were too many things running though her mind that were distracting her. Most of all she was trying to imagine how her grandma would react when she would come back home with a man in full armor and most important: He was shot. It would be obvious it had something to do with her and her grandma definitely would get worried. That was something Hannah wanted to prevent.
Grandma started to get weaker every time. Her age was starting to win the fight against her young spirit and mind and Hannah did not wanted to be the cause of more problems. Yet she had no choice. There was no other option and she just couldn’t leave him here alone. There was an option he would survive this mess but if she would let him alone now he maybe would decide it was a mistake to keep her alive. Now she knew were he could find her and it would only be a matter of time. So with mixed feelings she was helping him, hoping she wasn’t making the wrong decision.
