It had been his first contract in days, it has been a while since he was in a firefight; Cross was looking forward to this mission. He was a big-shot mercenary from NEOSCREAM and easily one of their best, that is what his actions had earned him; Respect. Well, respect from other mercenaries anyway. The contract sent to him by NEOSCREAM was an interesting one, this time around he would be fighting a Neogena. A mutant. From rumors and casual chit-chat, Cross had learned that a lot of people did not like Neogena's. As a matter of fact, the word dislike was an understatement; Hate was better to describe it. What did Cross think of all this?
He didn't give a damn. He knew why people hated the mutants and he knew why some people cared for the mutants, in a way, he was on both sides. Truly though, he did not care about the overall view of a race. He was one of those people that believed each person was different, distinguishing a view on a whole race because of a mere view was a rather idiotic thing to do in his opinion. He did not mind these Neogena's at all. In fact he was quite happy with them because they gave him some amusement when he fought with them. Over all the contracts, fighting against those with supernatural abilities proved to be the most interesting, however even Cross must admit they nearly had him in a grave several times; Most of them were worthy opponents that were not to be messed with, the exceptions being the young and inexperienced, although Cross had never faced one of those types.
So today would be another day, like all the other days he had spent attacking Neogena's. Honestly, that was not a lot of days though, but enough days to let him know that each one had a different ability that was most probably not friendly to enemies at all. Something he needed to look out for on this mission of his. Apparently he would be looking for a blue-haired mutant that should be somewhere around the first stage; There was a catch though. That was all he knew. He had no idea what type of person this would be, he just had to hope the first person he saw with long, blue hair was the right one! In a way, if they looked ill or even slightly ill, that could mean it was them, he had heard of the sickness that came with the abilities they were granted. Not something Cross wanted to experience, he liked being a normal human without having an illness every day. Cross did not read much into who ordered the contract, but apparently it was some rich person who did not like these Neogena's, he only assumed this person didn't know who they targeted due to the small amount of information they had.
Searching through the forest-like area of Itene, Cross looked left and right, his eyes scanning the area as quickly and effectively as possible, looking at trees, bushes, the odd little animal that ran across the green grass; Cross just wondered when he would spot this guy!
Wearing his mercenary combat outfit, Cross was equipped with his dual handguns. With one in each hand, finger on the trigger; Ready to rain down on any opponent with bullets if he was attacked, Cross had been searching most other areas with no success. He was almost certain the person would be here! With throwing stars and grenades on the utility belt if he needed to use those dangerous weapons, Cross took a second to feel the back of the belt, checking for his combat knife. It would be bad if he needed it in battle and it was not there. Very bad. So bad it could cost him his life; That is why all mercenaries...Anyone who was going into battle needed to be well-equipped.
"Where the hell is this guy?! Damned contract. Playing hide-and-seek wasn't in the job description..." Cross moaned to himself, scowling underneath his mask, gripping his guns tightly, wondering when he would encounter this Neogena.

Hannah was having one of her good days. She was happy, she wasn’t feeling sick and she had no headache. Now she did knew that it could end all so sudden just like an unexpected rainfall on a bright and clear day, but she was just feeling amazing. That must have been a good sign. The hours were passing by slowly and yet she wasn’t feeling any change.
So with a big smile on her face she was walking through the forest that was located really close at Itene, she knew so well. It was cloudy and the clouds were revealing that it would start to rain soon. Yet that still wasn’t enough to ruin the happy mood of the female. She was on her way to Dante. Not knowing that she wouldn’t come there didn’t pop up in her mind. He was living on a relative distance from her home and she always liked the walk. This time she had decided to go through the woods. This random moment was another mistake she was going to make, but she was not aware of the danger. Noone really knew she was a Neogena. Alright, Seiryu did know it. But he was a childhood friend of her and he had worked for her father so it was quite obvious he knew it. Especially when he had seen her grow up with blonde hair and brown eyes. Both were having now the same light blue color. Hannah had met Dante a short time ago, maybe a few months, and she had liked him from the start. No matter if she was looking strange with the hair, he did seem to accept her how she was. Now, he did not knew she was infected with the Neogenus virus and for now she wanted to keep it like that. It still was a sensitive subject for everyone but mostly for her, because if others would know about it maybe even the media would get an ear of it. Then they would know the daughter of the powerful man who was ruling Boracca, the country that was completely Neogena Free, and they were proud of it, was infected with that virus. It had the cause so they would blame him or her mother. And that was again a quite sensitive subject for her father. As he had lost his wife and almost his daughter because of that horrible virus. From a small thing many other things would start to roll and Hannah simply didn’t wanted to be the cause of that. Yet she did not knew that a few people were updated about the fact she was a Neogena.
Chuckling into herself she remembered the story her father was spreading around when she moved to Atlas. About that his mother, her grandma, needed the extra help. Now Hannah knew that if everyone would look at that old female that she was still quite fit and healthy and didn’t need any help at all. Grandma never even was letting her help, always using the excuse she needed to watch herself because she was sick. It was quite frustrated, she was sick. True. But she wasn’t a mental problem. She still could do everything she wanted. She just needed to rest once in a while or just lay down. Even today her grandmother had looked down at her with worry. As if she was becoming sick again so sudden. Hannah had decided to ignore it and so she was walking through the forest. Enjoying the smell of the moss and the sounds of the leaves and branches. Normally she always was hearing the sound of birds, but it was completely silent around her. For a moment Hannah stood still, giving herself a moment to listen to the sounds around her. It was too quiet. Then she heard the sounds of branches breaking under steps and she froze on her spot. She had expected to be alone. “H..Hello?” She asked with a soft voice as she looked around to see who was so near that she hadn’t noticed it before.

Cross was starting to get annoyed, he hadn't seen the figure of the enemy for several minutes now; And he had been searching hours before this too! The grip around his dual guns got tighter, his fingers moving around the trigger although never pressing it. The glowing eyes of his mask scanned the area ahead of him; Searching for a blue-haired Neogena to annihilate so he could collect his pay and get closer to proving that he was the best mercenary around Illusia.
Silent footsteps moved across the green terrain, Cross' boots slowly stepping onto the grass of the quiet forest; Something was telling him that he was getting closer to the person he was looking for. That something was instinct. Many battles and near-death experiences helped a man's instinct, it was one of the most important things a warrior could have; Without it they could die in battle a hell of a lot easier.
All of a sudden, Cross heard a voice right after a stick made a rather loud noise after his boots mercilessly crushed it...However the voice was so quiet due to the distance that he could not make out what type of voice it was; But that was not important. What was important was sneaking up on the mutant and taking it out. If it was powerful, things would still continue and everything would be all exciting. If not, then the sneak attack would simply end the mission in success and Cross would be quite pissed off because this was not as good as he thought it would be.
Ducking behind a large, thick tree, both Berreta's in hand, Cross took a deep breath before running around the bushes almost silently, his skill showing in the speed and efficiency he ran at. Taking a look at the individual from the corner of his eye as he ran past them, the shadows of the large trees covering him, the darkness of his outfit helping it further, Cross leaped out of the bushes, landing on his knee before rolling up onto his feet; Gun pointing at the face of the Neogena.
"Time's up, say bye to life--" Cross confidently stated with a smirk, the gun right in the person's face. All of a sudden, something interrupted his flow of speech, his eyes widened and almost choked on his words. "The fuck?! A girl?!" Cross exclaimed in question, not knowing how to react or if he should pull the trigger on the young, blue-haired girl in front of him. It would of been so much easier if she was actually a man or at least a woman that looked like one but...This was a pretty little thing that Cross couldn't just shoot. Even for money. He never liked to fight women, so this pitted him in a very difficult situation, and he still wasn't sure how she was going to react to this.
The gun still in her face, Cross' arm shook, deciding whether to pull the trigger or not, bearing his teeth underneath his mask at the tough decision he faced.

As she heard the sound she carefully made her way to it, curious about what it was. She had heard a sound but now everything was quiet again and for a moment she toughed she had imagined it. Hannah sighed once before she turned around again, making the mental note that there was nothing there and that she was alone. But before she could turn around she heard a sound of someone coming closer to her, way faster then she expected. Turning back in the direction of the sound she moved away from it as she saw it was men who run in her direction. Now if it just would be a person like her, nothing would be wrong. The different was that this man was in full armor and fully loaded with weapons and ammunition. It makes things look a bit nastier for her. “What?” She was able to spit out as she saw how he aimed a weapon at her face. This was not what she had expected and her body froze while her mind just wanted to run away. The reaction of the man confused her even more. He had expected her to be a guy? Wait, someone was sending people like him to kill her. Then someone knew she was a Neogena..? So many things were running through her mind as she was looking at the man in front of him, completely frozen by fear.
It was not sure how long she had stood there with that gun aimed at her face but she slowly felt she started to regain control over her body again, yet she wasn’t calming down. Carefully she did a step away from the man as she was watching him and his movements. Was she able to run and hide from this man, knowing that he could shoot her? What other options did she had anyway, fighting was no option as she had no weapons. Compared with any other neogena she simply was weak as it was obvious she had no super powers to be faster or stronger then an average human. She was just a girl that was getting sick of the virus but other then that it simply had no effect on her. It was obvious she was no danger for anyone. For as much she knew the government only was sending agents to the neogena that were a danger for the human race. Or they were changing plans, taking the easy one out first to lower the population of the virus.
Within seconds she made the decision that even shocked herself for even thinking it. Not giving herself to become filled with fear for doing so she used all her strength to pull the gun away from her face as she leaned against his arm. Forcing him to lower it. However she knew she would never win in a close combat she started to run through the woods. Hoping that if she would stay away from him, and as she kept moving she wouldn’t be hit by any bullet.
She cursed once as if there was some higher force that would always ruin these good moments of her. It always was the same. There was something there, that didn’t wanted her to be happy. Right now she was cursing it with all the words she knew before she realized she better could use her breath for something better. Saving herself from being shot.

Cross continued to hold one of his Beretta's in the face of the girl, feeling confused and frustrated; For one, she was a girl and he could not just shoot a girl, especially one that looked to be around eighteen years old, two; She was no where near hideous, so pulling the trigger was much, much harder. And three; He would not feel good about this if he actually went through and pulled the trigger. Yeah. Hard decision, alright. At the same time though, not only would he suffer some damage to his reputation for not completing a mission, but if let this go without killing her when he had the chance, NEOSCREAM was most likely going to rage at the hearing of it; Could they really kill him for purposely failing a contract?
He watched as she found it hard to move, and he wasn't surprised, if someone had a gun in his face out of nowhere, the shock would stop him in his tracks too. But that would of been the old him; Cross has been hardened over all the fights, to people without much battle experience a gun was much more frightening than it actually was....Although still scary to say the least. He just grunted as the girl attempted to make a move, pushing his arm so he lowered the gun and wasn't able to fire at her for the second. He didn't resist at all, yet just looked as she did it, impressed she would try something like that.
Damnit. Poor girl, probably thinks she is going to die right about now. Cross thought to himself, his old, hot-headed self not showing in a situation like this. Lifting the gun to her back as she ran, he pretended to fire by making a quiet firing noise with his mouth. If only it were that simple... He sighed in his head, looking up into the sky before looking back at her, slowly beginning to run after her.
Running after her, Cross didn't really know what he would do if he caught her. Would he let her go? Would he capture her to bring her in? Would he...really go through with it and kill her? He didn't know. Mercenaries weren't known for their morality, but the majority had it alright, they were just great at hiding it. Sadly, Cross couldn't, he still was effected by his actions, just not as much as times like this.
Getting closer to her, he began to shout out to her, "Hey......Hey!" Cross called, "I ain't gonna hurt you damnit, just slow down already!" He continued, doubting it would actually work, yet giving it a go anyway.
Why did things have to be so complicated today?

Her blue hair was flowing behind her like a sea of blue, the hair that had revealed this man that she was the target. It made things difficult for her to hide herself, especially with such a color of hair in a so filled with green environment. For a moment she stopped to see where she was going, but when she saw the man was following she started to run again. Her breath was heavy as she tried to gain enough oxidant out of the hair. Yet she could not prevent she ended up out of breath. Hannah could hear him as he was shouting at her. He wasn’t going to hurt her? Then why did he aim a gun at her in the first place dammed. It wasn’t really a normal greet the most people were using. A normal hey, or hello would have worked too. Ignoring his words she kept running, knowing that she soon would need to stop anyway. She wasn’t really granted with the skills to run long.
She was panting loud as she slowed down, looking behind her to give herself a moment of relieve as she did not saw the man. Yet he could be everywhere. She stopped and looked around before she bends over as she rested with her hands on her knees. Giving herself some time to catch her breath again. She looked up again as she started to walk, knowing that the man was near. There was no way she was able to run out a trained mercenary. Why was she suddenly turned into a target? It was a question that kept wandering through her mind, and she also was thinking, trying to know how her grandma and father would react if they would hear the news that she was killed. Her father probably would end up being a complete mess. She had been younger when her mother had died but she had felt the same pain as her father. A pain, worse then every wound could cause. As if her hearth was pulled out, leaving an empty hole. It was horrible. She did not wanted that to happen. Her own life was quite miserable, she was infected by a virus that was no cure for, she was like a ticking time bomb, but at least she knew that she was making people happy.
So that was the main reason she simply wasn’t going to believe that man so easy. If he wanted to kill her then he needed to catch her first. Tired of the running she started to walk as she pressed her hand on the sharp pain that was burning in the side of her hip. Breathing heavily as she made her way further, looking around her carefully to see if he would jump out of the bushes somewhere.

Cross was not exactly surprised when she did not stop running after the words he had spoken, after all, he had pointed a gun at her face after jumping out looking like a deadly assassin, glowing eyes and all. Yeah. Not hard to see how she would not listen to a guy like that, the hard part would be trying to figure out how he could make her trust him. Somehow...Cross reckoned this would be hard after what just went down.
Still running after her, his black boots stamping against the soft grass, getting closer and closer, the complex forest made it hard to keep track of the girl he was chasing due to there being so many trees, bushes and the sort, he really had to focus if he did not want to lose her. And for Cross....Focusing was annoying, he could get distracted easily. Although he still could see her blue hair even though he was falling behind, it was so easy to see amongst all these green. It was not exactly camouflage, more anti-camouflage, luckily for Cross.
Knowing he had no use for his guns at this moment, added that they were slowing him down slightly because he was holding them; Cross slotted them on either side of the utility belt, beginning to run slightly faster now that they were not in his hands.
With the girl in his sights, Cross ran faster, knowing that he was getting closer. Was she slowing down? Was he getting faster? Either way he was getting closer, that was for sure! She had stopped running and now was walking. They were roughly twenty meters away from each other, Cross believing that he would be able to catch her now.
Looks like she finally got tired. What the hell are you doing, Cross? This was supposed to be easy... Cross thought to himself. The mask isn't gonna do any favors either; Might as well take it off, not like showing my face will get me into deep water here.
Usually if he showed his face that would risk his identity being shown to the clients, meaning they might be able to exploit him or even his fellow NEOSCREAM members, which meant that NEOSCREAM did not really want their operatives to go around showing their faces to many people unless their documents were completely safe. Sadly they were not able to get a hold of Cross', so that meant whenever Cross removed his mask in public whilst on a mission, he was at risk if there was someone looking out for him. However, there was always a very low chance of that, so he was happy to risk it.
Catching up to her, several meters behind the blue-haired girl, Cross took out his gun and pointed it at her back.
"Turn around, girl." Cross ordered calmly, "Now this is more complicated than it should be, but if you stay calm, then so does my trigger finger." Cross told her, implying that if she stopped running and just stayed put, he would lower the gun and things could get sorted.

The man suddenly shows up and before Hannah could start to run again he ordered her to turn around to face him. What choice did she have? She was tired, there was no way she could run away from him now. Slowly she turned around to face the man, again he was holding his weapon at her and she started to hate the view of it. Why didn’t he shoot to end this all, it would make things much easier. After he also was saying things were getting complicated then it should be. “What do you want from me?” She said with an angry tone in her face, but the fear in her voice could be heard. She wasn’t calm and she still was trying to find a way to get out of this mess. Her eyes scanned the area fast before she looked back at the man. “Why don’t you just shoot me so things can’t get more complicated?” She said with a voice that was filled with anger, and she needed to prevent herself not to shout those words. It where words that were trying to make him explain this whole situation. Of course she was hoping that he would explain and not do what she just had said: shoot her. No matter how miserable her life was, she loved it. She still was young and she still had so many things she still could do.
For a moment she regretted she never had decided to learn any skill of self-defense or fighting. She at least could have slapped him in the face, or hurt him on other ways so she had more time to get away. However things only would become worse and she knew that. It would be like throwing her own windows. So instead she was thinking of another way to get out of this. However she never was good to solve things under pressure so even now her mind was failing to do so.

It had seemed like Cross had succeeded in making the girl stop in her tracks, the threat of a gun being shot looked like it did the trick; However he could bet that did not make him look too good right now in a situation like this. As she turned around, he was able to get a better look at her, from what Cross thought she looked to be around seventeen maybe eighteen years old. He was not aware that a Neogena virus could strike at a young age like that, all of the mutants he had ever faced seemed to be older than Cross was himself. Looks like you learn new things everyday as they say.
She began speaking to him, and by the tone of her voice she wasn't very happy about the whole situation, she knew how to put a brave face on though, he was certain that she was scared right now. The gun still pointed at her, Cross just sighed underneath his black mask.
Not saying anything back just yet, he simply lowered his gun and stuck it to the side of his utility belt. Maybe that would of helped to keep the girl calm for a few minutes, sure he did not want to kill her but he still wasn't sure what to do with her now.
"Alright, listen up; I'm a mercenary and you're a target, you're wanted dead by some person unknown to me." He told her plainly, crossing his arms in the process, "If you're wondering why you are not dead yet, just be happy you got me to be the one to come and get ya. I didn't know that you would be a girl." Cross finished, hoping she got what he implied, which was that he did not like harming female individuals.
Looking at her through the glowing eyes of his dark outfit, Cross waited to see how she would react...And hoped it was not more running again.

When the man said there was something that wanted her dead she looked up surprised, while she realized what he just had said her emotion turned from angry into fear, and it was noticeable on her face. This man said that the person who wanted her dead was unknown for him, and she had no idea who wanted to see her dead. No one really knew she was a Neogena. The few who did were people that were standing close to her. “What?” She said in confusing, not really able to say anything else as she felt how her feet were unable to hold her weight. Falling on her knees she looked up at the man as the tears were welling up in the corner of her eyes. “Why? I’m not causing any problems.” She said as she sniffed, trying to push her tears away. It was not the right time to start cry now, but she was taken over by the fear she was feeling. The man was telling that she should be glad that he was the one who needed to do it. That he did not knew she was a girl. It confused her even more as she did not really saw the hint that would make a difference.
“What would the different be that I’m a girl instead of a guy? There still is someone who wants to see me dead.” She did know that this man was from an organization. Probably an agent, working for the government, as the suit was something only really good trained people were wearing. Now Hannah did not know anything about the organization NeoScream. It would have things more complicated as this was an organization that was not choosing a side, but only was following the orders from the person that was paying the most. Not that it would make it easier for her to know who wanted to kill her. Things really started to look quite messy, as there was no way for her to escape from this. But this man could have killed her already, he had enough chances to do so. But yet he had placed the gun back, standing there unarmed in front of her. Why was he hesitating? It annoyed the young Neogena, as it was quite obvious how this all was going to end, so why was he not doing it right now.
There was a spark of hope coming up in her mind as she reminded herself that he had been looking for a male, while she was a female. So that person that had wished to kill someone, but didn’t wanted to do it self, had paid and given orders for killing a male. But there were no persons around her with the same blue hair color. She widened her eyes as she realized that there was someone like her, with the same blue hair. Seiryu. He was an important person, the government of Atlas. There sure were some reasons why anyone would kill him. Yet she could not tell this man that maybe he was having the wrong target. She couldn’t do it. It was a friend from her and he had worked together with her father. No there was no way she would betray him.
Not sure if her conclusion was right she decided to keep her mouth shut, no matter what. She was not going to betray someone else to get out of this horrible situation. She would never forgive herself.

Cross just felt uncomfortable when the girl seemed to be confused and fearful, looking as if she was about to cry. It made him feel like a real dirt bag; In truth, he was, he killed for money, yet that never set him off, he just didn't like to harm females in any way. Kind of against his moral code so to speak. Putting his arms on his hips, Cross just looked down at the ground, the sight of the emotionally-hurt girl not making him feel at ease; Why the hell did this have to happen to him?
Because he had to be the one itching for a contract, looked like the joke was on him in the end, his weakness stopping him from fulfilling a contract after so many successful missions. Looking up as she began to talk, Cross listened to her speak, before sighing. It had seemed she did not understand what he implied, not surprising when she could of been in so much panic, fear or sadness, things like that could easily make a person's mind less effective.
"No, that's not what I meant, blue-hair. What I meant was that if you wasn't a girl I would of had no trouble shootin' ya. You are the only blue-haired Neogena that NeoScream has a contract for. Well...I have a contract for." Cross stated, turning around, showing his back to her for a few seconds before turning back around. Thinking what to say or what could happen, Cross remembered she was a mutant. Did she have a special ability that he did not know about just yet?
Could it kill him right now? Was it dangerous? Did she know how to use her Neogena power? Did she have a power?
All of this thinking and confusion was annoying, Cross was beginning to feel hot and needed fresh air, both his hands going back behind his head, he took off his mask, slowly bringing it off his face as it rested on his upper back now like a hood; His face revealed.
Let's hope this helps, glowing eyes might just scare the shit out of her more than anything. Besides, the heat was pissing me off... Cross thought to himself as he took it off, quickly looking left and right to see if anyone was around before turning his gaze back onto the blue-haired Neogena. Noticing a thick log next to him, Cross just sat down and leaned forward, his forearms on his knees as he leaned.
"So what's your name anyway, girl?" Cross asked, attempting to make the situation a bit less tense than it already was.

The idea that he would have shot her without having any problems if she was a male, wasn’t quite having the relaxing effect on her as he probably hoped as she send a deadly glare to the male. “There is no different between a male or a female.” She said with a harsh voice, hating it when males were thinking the female was a weaker race or that they just didn’t wanted to hurt them because they were just, well.. nice to look at. Not that she was thinking this man was not shooting her because of those reasons. NeoScream? So that was the organization that was having the assignment to kill her? Hannah did not knew anything about it, for as much she had known that only agents were doing the hunting on the extreme group of Neogena’s. The idea of having some kind of organization that needed to kill here wasn’t something she wished to know. It did however was a relieve that she was the only one. So it did not was meant to kill to government of Atlas.
The man turned away from her, removing the mask and Hannah was surprised by that action. Why would someone do that, especially when it was an organization? Wasn’t it supposed to happen all in secret? But then again, what did she knew about it. Nothing. She did noticed he was older then her, allot older but even so it surprised her that a man like that was working in the organization. She mostly had expected that only the extremely ugly and failing persons were working there because they just hadn’t anything else to do.
“My name is Hannah.” She said, deciding he did not needed to know her second name. It was not important and she did not wanted to make things easier for the man. If he wanted to know her second name then he should have to pull it out of her. Hannah knew that her second name probably would make the connection between her father and his position. Something the most didn’t have to know.

Cross had just grunted when Hannah did not like the comment he made about not wanting to harm a female; It was the only thing keeping her alive right now, luckily Cross had morals unlike a lot of other mercenaries. He didn't say anything back, just simply sat on the brown log and looked at her, scratching the back of his head, thinking of a solution to this problem. His mind was betraying him as he failed to come up with something for the time being; This was a tricky situation indeed.
Listening to her, she had told him her name, or what he could assume to be her name; Who knows if she was telling the truth or not? Either way it was something to call her for now.
"Hannah, huh?" Cross repeated, he was half-surprised, he figured because Neogena's were different from normal humans they would have different name types. He was wrong. That's two new things he learned in one day, not that he kept track of it anyway. "Just call me Wolf right now. You don't need to know my real name right now." Cross simply told her, slightly stern.
"So, a Neogena." Cross muttered, implying that it was her he was talking about. "Don't you have some sort of mutant power or something?" Cross asked, quite interested to see what the answer would be. Some really did have some unique powers, was she the same? Or did they need to develop with age? He was not very knowledgeable on the subject.
In the distance
Four pitch black boots calmly pressed against the soft, green grass; Loaded guns lay on the sides of their waists. A deep grunt came from one of the mysterious men, the pair of them eventually moving out of sight, following tracks made.

“I’m only in the first stage so it maybe explains why I have no special powers at all.” She said as she looked at her hands as if it would be shown on there. I never really noticed anything special.” She wasn’t faster than any human, she wasn’t stronger and she definitely had no special powers. Neither was she able to use any weapons. Well maybe she was able to use a knife to harm someone, but to kill was something completely different. She glared at the man and the amount of weapons he was carrying. She on the other hand never had any weapon with her. Simply because she was so naïve to think she did not needed it.
Now it was her time to ask him things. As she was curious why someone would appreciate for such a job like he was doing. “Why do you hate Neogena’s? We are humans.” Other then having a virus that changed them their mind still was the one of a human. They just were looking a bit out of the ordinary and they had some stronger powers but other than that she was no difference from anyone else. But then again she was a first stage neogena. She had seen others, that were in the third or fourth stage and they were looking less human then her. Hannah also had noticed the news about the neogena people were calling the fifth. That story really had made her freak out as it seemed to be so strong that it was able to infect clean humans with a single drop of blood. She just was hoping she never would become like that. Then maybe she would end her life out of free will because there was no way she would wanted to infect the people around her. Especially the people she loved. She knew how horrible it was, so she didn’t wished it to anyone else. “Do you really only kill neogena’s?“ She asked on a curious tone as if she was asking such a simple thing as what time it was or having a useless conversation about the weather. Hannah just wanted to know a few things about this man, what was so wrong with that? After all he had asked her thing’s too.

Cross was quite surprised when Hannah admitted she had no powers, or at least no sign of powers; He really thought that they all had powers, but maybe they really did come with age. Or...Just maybe each person developed the powers at different times. That sounded more logical, seeming as everyone's body was different, therefore the virus would do different things to different people at different rates. Sounded simple enough although when it was looked at more closely in terms of DNA and such, most likely it would become a whole lot more complicated.
The next question that came from her was something he was not expecting to hear, yet was ready to answer. She had answered his questions so it was only natural that she would want to get some answers from him. After all, she did get a gun pointed at her and was chased through a forest; Hannah did deserve some answers at the very least.
"What do you take me for? An agent? Those guys ain't got nothing on me and NeoScream." Cross responded, sounding pretty confident. In truth, it was not proven who was better or if Cross was better than most of them there, it was merely his view of it. "I don't have anything against Neogena's at all, in fact I don't see why all the hate is on them." Cross told her casually, scratching his chin. "I don't only take contracts for Neogena's, I take a contract to take out any guy that needs to be taken out." Cross said, sounding quite proud of himself. "The Agents are the guys that hate Neogena's. Not NeoScream. NeoScream work for anyone that offers the money, Agents are just the government's lapdogs." Cross said, letting her know who the real enemies to the mutants were.
Standing up, Cross looked around the area, just to make sure that there was no one in sight, and as he quickly scanned all in front of him and to the side, it all seemed clear to him; Looked like no one would be here for a while, at least it gave him some time to think of something to do about this.
"Yeah. And as you might suspect; If they find out I had the opportunity to kill you and didn't take it, I'm gonna be the one filled with holes." Cross muttered, sitting back down on the thick log. "And 'cos I ain't willing to do this, things are tricky." He finished, looking at Hannah.

As if she did knew the difference between an agent and a person working for that organization, this man was acting completely like an agent and they both were there to hunt down any of her kind. Every neogena was the same so she didn’t understood the commotion about them anyway. Not all were dangerous and most of the neogena only were dangerous because they were being hunted like some wild animal. “People think they can get infected by being near a neogena probably. Which isn’t even true. Well unless you mean the fifth stage of the neogena but as far as I know there is only one of them.” If people would be afraid because of that one person she could understand it, but the other stages were known before that other one. “Agents are just horrible and cruel persons.” She said with a growl as she looked up at the man. She still was sitting there on the ground; the only difference was that she had changed into a more comfortable position, sitting there while her arms were resting on her knees. Her clothes already were becoming dirty because of it so she really didn’t bother about it. It was not that worse as she could think of a story to tell to her grandma to explain it.
“It really must suck to kill people like that.” She knew she wasn’t able to do it. She would feel horrible about. No matter if she knew the person or not. Hannah saw how the man stood up and was looking around. This also made her automatically look around, yet there were no other sounds then they were making. It surprised her that this man, being called Wolf, was talking so easily about his job as it was something normal like any person at the office. Ow well every person was difference and they all had another job to make a living. The other more stranger then the other.

Cross just smiled as she talked, killing wasn't really that bad when someone got used to it in the way he did. Being in the army and then becoming a mercenary soon after was one of the ways to get used to it real quick; Although that did not make it right. Cross could see how an innocent person would think of killing to suck; Yet it was Cross' way of making a living. Not that he hated it, he loved the feel of a tense battle and the challenge most of the time, the only thing was the presence of death in each fight constantly stalking the participants, as if it was grabbing at them each time one of them made a move, watching for them to make a wrong move.
However, before he could even answer, he heard the snapping of twigs behind him in the distance. It was faint but he could hear it, standing up quickly and looking behind him, he saw nothing but...trees and grass. Odd. He could of swore he heard something....
And then there it was. Out of thin air, two dark figures dressed in red and black appeared. Was it magic? No. It was technology. A used gadget in NEOSCREAM; A cloaking device to be used for an individual person, in this case, the duo that had just appeared before Hannah and Cross were using one each.
A scowl appeared on Cross' face. He knew who these two were. And he was not happy about it. They were an infamous team within NEOSCREAM, both of them being skilled individuals; Being even better when fighting as a team. A smirk was present on both of their faces. Both of the mercenaries were of the same height and looked similar to each other, just like twins. One wearing a plain, black outfit and the other wearing a plain, red outfit, each guy holding a silver handgun. The Sovai Twins.
"What's going on here, Cross?" One said, "I hope you are not planning on letting her go. We would like to kill her too, you know. And seeming as you befriended the target, I guess that makes you a traitor, eh? Funny, big bad Wolf going soft." The second stated, both of them pointing their guns up at Cross and Hannah. "Back off, punks. You got no business here." Cross said with some anger, quickly drawing both of his guns, the gun on his right pointing at the right one, the left aimed at the left twin. "You see, we got the contract too, and we would really like to have the pay." The one in black continued, "So please move away before we get nasty." The other added sweetly like he was innocent, yet he was really psychotic underneath. "Not a chance in hell, Sovai's." Cross muttered.
Backing away and moving in front of Hannah, he didn't take his eyes of the Sovai twins. "Alright Hannah, you wanna live? Then just run. Just get the hell away from here, the second you run will be the second they shoot, so you better run fast. If you get hit...I died. If you don't...I probably died anyway." Cross mumbled to her, loud enough for her to hear. His tone was cold and serious, he knew that it could be over right now, the two in front of him were far from a joke, psycho killers that gained a bizarre pleasure from killing.
Damn it.....Why am I doing this? Crap, is it going to be over right now? Will I die against these? All I know is I am gonna take these two messed up freaks with me. Cross thought in his head, arm's almost still, focused on nothing but the guys ahead of him, ready to pull the trigger when the time was right.
He just hoped they aimed for him and not Hannah, after all if they didn't they would die from bullets. Yeah. These guys would aim for him and then advance onto Hannah. They were just that type of sick-minded mercenaries.
Cross was not having that. Who knew? He could be dead by then...

It seemed the man was going to say something but a sound nearby made them both look up. It was far away but the sound did not make her relaxed about it. It did not sound like an animal. Before she could even think of what the sound had caused two men were coming from the right out of nowhere. Where they really so unsure that they were sending three members of the organization to hunt her down? While one would do fine? Well, someone that would kill a female at least. Hannah stumbled up as she made her way away from the two, only get a gun aimed at her again. She did not like it the way they were talking, they were completely different then this man who called himself Wolf. They were completely like the image she had in mind for the mercenaries she had heard about. Cruel persons, that did anything to do their job. Killing for money and even enjoying it. Such persons had no heart at all. However how much she had tried to look brave with Wolf, she now had no chance of even trying it. Their looks and the way they were talking were already enough for her to be scared. She kept her mouth shut as the three were having a conversation about her. So they all three were working in the same organization. However she wasn’t really getting much time to think about anything as the man who first had refused to shoot her now was going to defend her from these two others. It was the least thing she wanted. Why would someone risk their life for someone he didn’t even know? Mostly she didn’t want that to happen because those two were looking dangerous, and two against one mostly was meaning it would end up very badly for the one who was in minority.
Yet Wolf said her that if she wanted to stay alive that she needed to run, but she couldn’t just do that. She hesitated as she looked at the back of the man. “But..” She said, not getting an answer back, making her clear she needed to get out of here. As she turned around she started to run, really having no idea where she needed to go. She blamed herself for letting him fight those two. If she would at least be a Neogena that would have some stronger powers or senses then the average human she could at least helped him. Now if they would shoot that man they would come after her, killing her anyway. She felt horrible and for a moment she toughed that maybe it would be better for her to just let herself getting killed. What was she for use anyway? She couldn’t protect the people she loved, and she only was a bother for them. Even now, what was she going to do now? She couldn’t go home, nor to any other of her friends. Knowing that if those two would come after her they wouldn’t hesitate to kill anyone around her. Hannah felt how the wind in her face was feeling cold and as she felt with her hand she noticed her face was wet. She was crying, because she was feeling so powerless and she simply did not know what to do.

Cross sensed that Hannah was not comfortable about this, and the one word she spoke let him know that she wasn't happy about running and leaving him with these two cold killers. That made three of them. Just one with a conscience, is all. That one was Cross also known as Wolf, the hot-headed mercenary who wanted to be the best there was; Yet he could wind up dead in a ditch before that dream is fulfilled. Cross never liked to think he could get beat, his mind kept on telling him he was the best NEOSCREAM had. However, even he knew when it was looking nasty, and right now...It was looking nasty. Very nasty.
He could hear Hannah's footsteps as she ran away behind him, most likely aiming to leave the forest. Cross just smiled, he knew that at any moment they would shoot, and he would have to shoot before them to win. Their silver guns locked on at him, their fingers moving the trigger so a bullet could be fired, a bullet with the intent of delivering suffering and pain...And death. Cross knew that if he dodged...Hannah could get hit and even though he could win, NeoScream would somehow know about this in the end, just with the added guilt of having a dead girl on top. If he stayed put; He could die. He could live. Either way, sooner or later NeoScream would hear of it. How? They were just that type of organization, they seemed to know everything sooner or later, Cross absolutely hated the idea of it, the amount of scouts they had per region was ridiculous.
And then there it was. Four gunshots all fired at the same time. Four dangerous bullets whizzing through the air at incredible speeds towards a target, the motive of it to hit and finish it's target mercilessly.
The Sovai twins were incredibly arrogant, staying put in their position, believing that they would not get hit and thinking their skill would finish Cross before he could fire. However they were not expecting him to fire so quick. A bullet from one of his Beretta's ripped into one of their chest's, piercing their heart and killing him instantly, his body falling back. The other was shocked to see that this had happened, distracting him from the bullet coming towards him, the death of his relative being too much, a bullet to the neck following shortly after, finishing him off too, his lifeless body falling back onto the soft ground. Cross...had won?
Cross stood there for a mere second, looking at the bodies of his foes on the ground, beaten and finished. A smile would of came to his face but...Instead the feeling of pain and fatigue tugging at him replaced it...
He had been hit.
Shit....Shit....No...
A scowl appeared on his face, the two guns slowly sliding out of his hands, falling for what seemed like hours in those few seconds towards the green grass. A bullet wound was visible on the right side of his stomach, blood slowly flowing out, legs shaking as they did their best to stand. It wasn't long until he was on his knees, the feeling was overwhelming; He softly felt the wound. It stung. Looking back at his black gloves, they were no longer black but red with his own blood. The expression of a scowl on his face turned to a slight smile.
"At least..." Cross started before coughing up blood, his hand covering his mouth as he went on all fours, red blood staining the green grass of the forest, "I could die..." He continued to mumble, a deep breath and gasping interrupting, "For such an innocent girl...Heh...Heh.........Heh." Cross finished, slowly rolling onto his back, looking up into the blue sky. His eyes began to slowly close and open, fading to black before closing and opening, closing and opening, closing and....Closing.
Was....Cross....dead?

The sounds of the gunshots made Hannah look up. It surprised her how loud the sounds were compared with the time she had run. In a quiet forest as this she could hear the sound on a far distance and she stopped as she turned herself to the location where she had heard the sound. Other than the four releases of bullets that were causing the loud noise no other sounds were followed. It was completely quiet. It was a sound that didn’t made Hannah feel more comfortable. As she had expected to at least hear some voices and footsteps coming closer. No matter if it had been from those two intruders or the one who had introduced himself as Wolf. It was too quiet. Carefully Hannah started to walk into the direction she had heard the sound, trying not to make a sound at all and yet she was trying to prevent to make any sound herself. Her eyes were scanning the ground so she knew were she was placing her feet to avoid the sound would cause any unexpected sounds. She couldn’t prevent to move completely without a sound, however with the way she was placing her feet with every step she was able to make the sound as less as possible. It was frustrated as she did not knew were to go, because she didn’t heard any sounds anymore so she did not really knew which way to go. She tried to move in one straight line, knowing that when she had run away from the group she didn’t really had watched were to go. She just hoped she now was going the right way. In a time what seemed to take minutes, she first had cross the way in seconds, she noticed the place where Wolf and she had sat down and talked for how long it lasted. In the first glace she saw no one, but when she came closer she saw the two persons that had interrupted them, the twin, where lying on the ground. The ground around the two were turning red. Leafs and grass were covered in it and she covered her mouth and nose with her hand to prevent herself to smell it. She then turned around and saw another body lying on the ground: The person who had helped her. “Wolf?” She asked as her voice hesitated with the word. The man had his eyes closed and Hannah looked worried at him as she kneeled down, patting his chest softly to try to make him react. However when she moved her hand up she saw how it was covered in blood, his blood. Hannah gasped as she looked from her hand to the face of the man again and then to the wound. “Oh my god..” She always hated blood and it always made her feel sick as she saw or smelled it. However she forced herself not to worry about that as she first wanted to know if this man was okay.
Ignoring that it covered her hands in blood she placed both hands on his chest as she tried to shake him awake, looking worried at him. She did not wanted him to be died, he had tried to help her after all and if he would be dead it would be her fault. Because she just was a useless Neogena that didn’t had some special powers so she couldn’t helped him. Yet he could have saved himself as he had just shot her in the first place when they had met. Then he didn’t needed to shoot two of his companions, or at least two persons from the same company, and he still would have been alive. She would be dead then, but what had her life for use anyway.
Not sure what to do she looked at the man and almost as an instinct that was telling her what to do she pulled out her jacket, which was sadly enough of a light colored fabric so she knew she could throw it away after, and pushed it on the wound the bullet had caused. She had learned that pressure on the wound would cause it less to bleed. But even so, even if he would be alive, she couldn’t stay here forever. Neither could he. If there were more persons like those two others around then they could have heard the gunshots. They sure would check out what was happening. But what does she needed to do then. Hannah wasn’t quite able to pull him up and drag him all the way to her home.
